Be amazed at the diversity and beauty of tropical birds living in the Xaman Ha Aviary. Unlike a zoo in which animals are kept in cages, the aviary forms a natural habitat for birds and other wildlife that also live there. These birds are indigenous to the Yucatan peninsula and they live in pleasant harmony with other birds as well as other non-winged animals such as butterflies, squirrels, iguanas and the like.
The species in the aviary include ducks, flamingos, storks, macaws, parrots and so much more, resulting in a colorful (and often noisy!) collection that is a pleasure to behold.
This open-air sanctuary provides a natural setting that allows visitors to walk through trails and see the birds in their natural habitat. Beware, though, since the concept is too natural for comfort for others. You may get pestered by overly assertive winged creatures as you walk along the path! This aside, this is a great experience that will inspire a love and appreciation for the world's creatures and their natural habitat.
